Everest Base Camp Trek
The trek to Everest Base Camp takes you through the Himalayas, providing us with a stunning vista of mountain peaks. Renowned for Mount Everest itself, you'll stand in the shadow of some of the highest mountains on the planet. Further recognized for its miraculous beauty and welcoming Sherpa community, trekking through an area considered a Mecca for mountaineers and climbers provides a sense of larger-than-life experience.
The iconic journey follows in the footsteps of Sir Edmund Hillary, Tenzing Norgay, and numerous early pioneers of Mount Everest, guiding you from Lukla to Base Camp. The route begins on the banks of the Dudh Koshi River and continues via Sagarmatha National Park to Namche Bazaar, Tengboche, Dingboche, Lobuche, Gorak Shep, and finally Everest Base Camp. Namche is the primary trading point in the Everest region and is well-known as an acclimatization point.
As you trek past the trails, you'll pass through forests, rocky paths, and observe lots of Buddhist gumbas with the mountains towering above you. You'll stay in teahouses in these lofty villages along the way, which is a great way to experience how the Sherpas live. There are quite a few Buddhist monasteries on the trail too, and it's cool to see how the local culture is so connected to these mountains.
